In the shadow of Mont Ventoux

We spent the day visiting a number of villages situated around Mont Ventoux.

Mont Ventoux summit very early in the morning
The top of Mont Ventoux is bare limestone which looks like snow. (It's covered in real snow from December to April).
Its isolated position overlooking the Rhône valley means it dominates the region because it can be seen from many miles away, especially on a clear day like today.
Our car
Bédoin
The 20 km bike ride from Bédoin to the top of Mont Ventoux is considered one of the toughest in professional cycling. British cyclist Tommy Simpson died on Ventoux during the 1967 Tour de France. Bédoin was full of cyclists who were about to cycle up the mountain or had just returned.

The other distinctive mountains in the area are the Dentelles de Montmirail
Suzette
We had lunch at Suzette
I had an omelette au chèvre at Suzette, not a crêpe

Le Barroux
Before dinner we had drinks with our hosts Ian and Axelle.
